Summary

I’m a data-driven and results-oriented marketing strategist with more than 15 years of experience across content marketing, lifecycle marketing, events, and social media marketing. I’ve edited scholarly journals and a quarterly print magazine, and have led content and marketing teams for startups at both ends of the growth spectrum.

In my personal life, I’m a writer and translator whose work has appeared or been reviewed in The New York Times Book Review, The New Yorker, The Baffler, The Point, n+1, The Los Angeles Review of Books, and elsewhere. Use the top nav to explore my literary and scholarly work.

Marketing DIRECTOR @ EVergrow

Evergrow is a seed-stage, climate-finance startup that helps owners of clean energy projects access tax-credit financing. As director of marketing, I lead all marketing efforts across channels at Evergrow and collaborate with the CEO and Head of Operations on business and communications strategy.

Work for Evergrow

YES SF URban sustainability challenge

I authored Evergrow’s successful proposal for the second Yes SF Urban Sustainability Challenge, which resulted in media placements, strategic partnerships, and a $104,000 grant.

REsources hub launch

In my second quarter at Evergrow, I led the development of Evergrow’s Resources hub by developing a content strategy, securing page designs, and contracting web development.

SEO Rollout

During my first quarter, I outlined an initial SEO strategy for Evergrow and began implementing it.

Initial topics included:

In Q1, I exceeded my goals of expanding the site’s total keyword density by 50% with a 107% QoQ increase in keyword volume. By mid-Q2 2025, I had again raised keyword volume by 31% and aim for a total QoQ increase of 100%.

SEO-optimized educational assets are among several content types in the Resources hub.

The Evergrow Resources hub is a repository of marketing content organized by target buyer personas.

Social Media strategy

A month prior to my start date, Evergrow engaged a speciality agency to develop social media content for the company’s LinkedIn page. I managed the agency relationship and revised content for brand voice. When the contract expired, I brought social media strategy back in house and redeployed the budget to a media relations consultant, who has secured 6 media interviews for Evergrow’s CEO in less than two months.

Sales Collateral

As the lead marketing strategist, I develop pitch decks aimed at prospective buyers of commercial tax credits, including regional banks and a leading commercial bank. Contact me for samples of my work.

EVENTS marketing

I organize webinars and events intended to drive leads to the business development team. These have included:
04/23/2025: Clean Energy, Local Impact: Financing Commercial and Community Infrastructure (cohosted with Banyan Infrastructure)
01/30/2025: How to Unlock up to $500,000 with Clean Energy Tax Credits (cohosted with Omnidian)

SENIOR EDITOR @ CARTA

PreVIOUS ROLE: Senior editor, Carta

As senior editor, I led Carta’s editorial practice for the fund administration business line and served as the lead editorial partner for the Carta Insights team and the Carta Policy team.

WORK FOR CARTA

Data reportS

As the equity management platform for more than 40,000 companies and the fund administrator for more than 6,000 private fund entities, Carta holds unparalleled data on the U.S. venture capital market. The marketing team uses Carta’s proprietary data to produce data reports and branded journalism based on unique insights derived from this data.

The Fund I report

[author]

I co-authored this report with Carta’s data storyteller: she designed the charts and I wrote the text. It was Carta’s first data report on the complexion of first-time venture capital funds.

Emerging managers make up a large share of Carta’s fund admin customers—and they typically lack insight into how their funds compare to others in the market. By sharing and analyzing Carta’s data on fund formation, this report educates new and aspiring managers about the typical composition of a first-time fund. In addition to its publication on Carta’s website and distribution to customers and prospects via email, the report was an occasion for in-person and online events that other marketing teams used to generate and nurture leads.

How far do startup salaries stretch outside SF? A city-by-city guide

[editor]

A writer on my team pitched this story following the publication of Carta’s State of startup compensation report in March 2023. I helped him devise a methodology for indexing Carta’s startup salary data against various cost-of-living metrics for more than two dozen metros across the United States. This article generated 74 signups for Carta’s data newsletter in the first nine months of publication.

VC Education

Carta aims to be the go-to resource for startup entrepreneurs and emerging fund managers. I lead production of net-new educational content for the venture fund business.

Venture Capital 101

[scriptwriter]

I authored the scripts for this multi-part video series that explains the basics of the venture capital industry.

What happens during a venture fund audit?

[ghostwriter]

I wrote this article and published it with a byline by a Carta subject matter expert on Carta’s valuations team.

This piece fills a content gap in Carta’s educational resources for venture capital fund managers, and also captured Google’s featured snippet for the high-intent search term “venture fund audit.”

Rule 506(b) vs. 506(c): What to know before launching your fund

[editor]

After identifying Rule 506 as an SEO gap in our materials for fund-manager education, I assigned this article to a writer on my team and worked with legal subject matter experts on Carta’s policy team to refine it. The article answers questions about a critical regulation governing venture capital fundraising; confusion about these rules causes very many first-time fund managers to run afoul of federal securities law without realizing it.

The page typically brings in over 1000 monthly visitors seeking answers related to these high-intent search terms. An downloadable asset featuring a rich overview of venture capital fund regulation captures leads.

Public Policy

I support the Carta policy team’s efforts to educate the venture ecosystem about the ways public policy can impact founders, employees, investors, and the economy. I also assist the team by providing editorial guidance on public messaging statements.

Techcrunch: Why the startup sector should keep its eye on the SEC

[ghostwriter]

I wrote this op-ed in consultation with Carta’s Head of Policy and Policy Counsel, who share the byline. Our PR teammate was able to place it in TechCrunch.

The op-ed responds to rulemakings by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that could have drastic implications for the private markets. The op-ed gave Carta an opportunity to demonstrate thought leadership on a subject of critical importance to the market.

Carta’s policy priorities

[editor]

Aimed at policymakers and industry advocacy groups, this foundational statement outlines Carta’s platform for modernizing private-market regulation.

Issue brief: The geography of venture capital

[ghostwriter]

I helped Carta’s policy team publish a series of briefs on potential changes to private-market regulation that Congress and the SEC are contemplating. Each of these issues could have a transformative impact on the venture capital sector. The policy team works to educate stakeholders and build coalitions not only among Carta’s client base, but across the private-market ecosystem.
